Fold mountains are made when two plates rub against each other. Also the rock sediments move up which makes fold mountains. The rocks and crust get bent and crumpled compressing. They take million of years to build up and to get bigger. They might enlarge in height by a few millimeters per year.
Fold mountains form different regions that divide the flow of rivers. There movement causes these found climate regions that are for unique plants and animals. in other words Fold mountains forms ecosystems from the movement.

Some fold mountains that you might know are the Himalaya`s in Asia, and the Andes in south America. Fold Mountains are found where tectonic plates meet. The plates could be 'continental and continental' or 'continental and oceanic.' These plates are moving towards each other, but dont have any more room so they go upwards. ( This is also why sedimentary rocks are found at the top of mountains. Ground that used to be on the bottom is being pushed up to the top)
They are found in one huge chain that runs the entire length of North America and South America continuing to Antarctica. There is another that goes across Europe and Asia east to west.

Fold mountains form unique or different regions that divide the flow of rivers within them. The elevation of a fold mountain forms climate regions for different sorts of plants and animals. Basically the elevation of a fold mountains creates ecozones for different animals and plants to live in.

Here is a picture showing how the elevation of a fold mountain

Folded mountains are created when 2 of Earths plates move against each other. They will both push against each other and the plates will start to fold. They will start to rise from Earth and begin to grow as time passes. It takes millions of years for a folded mountain to be formed.

Here is a diagram of a folded mountain. Notice how the plates starts t fold as it moves.:

Some examples of folded mountains would be; theAlps in Europe and the Rocky Mountains in North America.

These are the folded mountain borders in North America.
